Organizing Commercial Districts with Over 20 Stores into an 'Economic Community'... 1 Billion Invested This Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Daegu City announced on the 21st that it will promote the Alley Economy Zone Creation Project starting this year in collaboration with the Daegu Traditional Market Promotion Foundation to foster and revitalize alley commercial districts.
First, by organizing small business owners in alley commercial districts with more than 20 stores into a single economic community, they plan to create an alley economy zone ecosystem and inject vitality.
Daegu City plans to select 30 alley commercial district organizations, 30 joint marketing sites, and 15 Hope First Step support sites by the end of May, and invest 1 billion KRW to strengthen the self-sustainability of alley commercial districts.
The 30 selected alley commercial district economic communities will receive support for strengthening merchant community capabilities, consulting, and joint marketing. Among them, 15 sites with excellent business plans will receive additional assistance through the 'Hope First Step Support Project' after evaluation.
Daegu City will accept project applications for each alley commercial district and support up to 16 million KRW per commercial district for 'joint marketing' (SNS promotion and promotional material production, etc.) and the 'Hope First Step Project' (joint facility improvement, environment creation, etc.).
Hong Eui-rak, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu City, said, "We plan to foster alley commercial districts that have been neglected in support compared to traditional markets and shopping districts and to actively discover creators (merchant representatives) who will lead the commercial districts," adding, "Through community organization, we aim to create sustainable alley commercial districts."
Meanwhile, Daegu City and the Daegu Traditional Market Promotion Foundation are also promoting the 'Alley Commercial District Recovery Support Expansion Project' to help alley commercial districts overcome the crisis caused by COVID-19.
