Gwangjin-gu Operates '50+ Lifestyle Crafts' Program... Napkin Art, Ribbon Craft, Gift Wrapping, etc.

Recruiting May Students Until the 28th

Gwangjin-gu Operates '50+ Lifestyle Crafts' Program... Napkin Art, Ribbon Craft, Gift Wrapping, etc. Last year, the Gwangjin 50+ Counseling Center was conducting a lifestyle craft program.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will operate the first half 50+ Lifestyle Craft Program at the Gwangjin Cultural Center from May to June.

This program is designed to help the 50+ generation, exhausted from COVID-19, enjoy leisure activities by making crafts while communicating and interacting with peers.

The program will run from May 3 to the end of June, divided into Monday and Thursday classes over a 4-week course, with the number of participants limited to under 10 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Monday class consists of napkin art lectures where participants create everyday items such as phone stands, tissue boxes, and wall clocks using craft napkins.

The Thursday class teaches ribbon craft accessory making, doll making using socks, and gift wrapping using lifestyle bojagi (wrapping cloth) and paper.

Anyone aged 50+ residing in Gwangjin-gu can apply for the course through the online registration menu on the Gwangjin-gu Office website or by visiting the Gwangjin 50+ Counseling Center.

The district is recruiting students for the May program until the 28th, and applications for the June program will be accepted starting May 1. For more details, contact the Senior Welfare Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.

Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “We have prepared a cultural program where the 50+ generation, living restricted lives due to COVID-19, can learn lifestyle crafts. We will continue to actively support the 50+ generation to re-engage in the community and unfold a new chapter in their lives.”

Meanwhile, the district opened the Gwangjin 50+ Counseling Center in February 2019, providing various information on life redesign counseling, social contribution activities, and reemployment for the 50+ generation.
