[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education held a regional education business council at the Geochang Education Support Office on the morning of the 20th to explore development plans under the theme of "A Great Transformation of Geochang Education."

The purpose of this regional education business council is to review local issues for the future education of Geochang and find solutions through communication and cooperation.

About 40 people attended the business council, including Superintendent Park Jong-hoon, Jeong Jin-yong, Director of Geochang Education Support Office, kindergarten principals in the Geochang area, elementary, middle, and high school principals, and heads of affiliated institutions.

The business council proceeded with a briefing on the implementation results of the regional education business council from 2014 to 2020, followed by discussions on local education issues and then an "Open Dialogue for a Great Transformation of Gyeongnam Education."

The Geochang Education Support Office presented plans to expand Happy Schools and promote Happy Education Districts, as well as cooperative measures with local governments to save small schools.

Song Seong-dong, principal of Jusang Elementary School, emphasized the importance of the village education community to expand Happy Schools, suggesting, "We must join forces to connect schools and villages. Let's also provide opportunities for retired principals to demonstrate their capabilities. It is necessary to expand the educational ecosystem to include the village, region, and schools."

In the small school preservation discussion, cases of Shinwon Elementary School and Gabuk Elementary School, which succeeded in escaping closure, and Wolcheon Elementary School, which succeeded in saving a small school through all-day care classroom operation, were shared.

Director Jeong said, "Please cooperate to ensure stable curriculum operation using the future education support platform 'I Talk Talk' and to solve issues such as expanding Happy Schools, Happy Districts, and saving small schools for the future education of Geochang."

Superintendent Park responded, "I will carefully manage so that solving local issues becomes the foundation for the growth of Gyeongnam education," adding, "Let us actively create the future we want so that what we imagine can become reality."
