[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 20th that starting from the 21st, it will provide housing cost support through the Namwon City Bogumjari Support Project to reduce the monthly rent burden and help stabilize housing for vulnerable groups who do not receive government support, marking the first such initiative in Jeonbuk.

The support targets are ▲household members without housing registered in Namwon City for more than one month ▲income evaluation amount at or below 60% of the median income (1-person 기준 1,096,000 KRW, 4-person 기준 2,925,000 KRW) ▲residing in private monthly rent or deposit-based monthly rent housing with a jeonse conversion value of 86 million KRW or less ▲households with general assets of 86 million KRW or less, financial assets of 20 million KRW or less, and vehicles below the selection criteria ▲housing costs will be supported at 81,500 KRW per month for a single-person household and 126,500 KRW per month for a four-person household.

However, recipients of housing benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security System, households residing in public rental housing such as permanent, jeonse, purchase, national, or 10-year public rental housing, and households where all members are foreigners are excluded from the support.

To apply, applicants must bring documents verifying the monthly rent details such as a copy of the lease contract, a copy of their bankbook, and identification to the administrative welfare center of their resident registration address in the town, township, or neighborhood office.

The head of the Namwon City Resident Welfare Division said, “Through the Namwon City Housing Cost Bogumjari Support Project, we expect to alleviate the economic burden and resolve housing welfare blind spots for low-income, homeless vulnerable groups by providing housing (monthly rent) support during crisis situations such as the recent COVID-19 pandemic.”
