[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, and senior officials including department heads have launched the ‘Creating a Workplace Where Everyone is Respected Campaign’ to achieve a first-grade integrity rating.

On the 20th, senior public officials of Gwangju City pledged through a declaration at the ‘Creating a Workplace Where Everyone is Respected Declaration Ceremony’ held in the city hall’s medium conference room, stating, “We will not use our superior position to pursue personal errands or private interests, nor will we engage in insulting behavior such as belittling employees’ personalities or appearances, verbal abuse, or physical violence.” They committed to leading efforts to improve internal integrity and foster a workplace atmosphere that eradicates power harassment.

Gwangju City plans to encourage employees in each department and business office to participate in the campaign by the 23rd.

Meanwhile, as part of the effort to achieve a first-grade integrity rating, Gwangju City prepared the ‘2021 Comprehensive Measures to Eradicate Power Harassment’ last month and is implementing the measures through collaboration among related departments.

Kim Ji-hwan, head of the City’s Autonomous Administration Division, said, “We will actively respond to public concerns and changing perceptions about power harassment, and strive to establish a culture of mutual respect among employees as well as eradicate power harassment toward external customers.”
