[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] ABKO Co., Ltd. (CEO Oh Kwanggeun), which is creating a new life platform, announced on the 20th that it won the main prize at the ‘iF Design Award 2021’.
The iF Design Award is hosted by the German International Forum Design and is known as one of the world's top three industrial design awards along with the American IDEA Design Award and the German Red Dot Design Award. This year’s award received about 10,000 entries from 52 countries worldwide, marking the highest number of submissions ever.
ABKO’s ‘K660M Gaming Keyboard’ (hereafter K660M), which won the main prize at this award, is explained to have minimized decorative elements with the motif of ‘Less but Better’ to differentiate itself in the gaming keyboard market full of ornamental features, emphasizing the power of simple shapes.
Instead of installing RGB LEDs on the switches for eye-catching brilliance, the K660M placed them on the sides to create a subtle glow on the surface for restrained sophistication. Additionally, the front without LEDs uses ABKO’s self-developed mold PBT double-shot keycaps for differentiation.
Oh Kwanggeun, CEO of ABKO, stated, “Taking this award as an opportunity, we will continue to develop designs that embody aesthetics, functionality, and brand value to communicate with our customers.”
Meanwhile, ABKO is leading the domestic market by holding an overwhelming No. 1 market share in the Korean gaming gear market and is advancing into a global company by pioneering market channels across North America, Europe, and Asia.
