[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 20th, marking the '41st Disabled Persons Day,' Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will hold a meeting with Seoul's disabled persons organizations in the large conference room at City Hall.
The meeting will be attended by representatives from 22 disabled persons organizations advocating for the rights of the visually impaired, intellectually disabled, physically disabled, and others, along with about 40 people including personal assistants.
The meeting was arranged at the request of Seoul City. Mayor Oh had promised during his candidacy to create a communication platform by holding a meeting with Seoul's disabled persons organizations (March 31).
Before the meeting, Mayor Oh will hold the Seoul Welfare Award (Disability Human Rights category) ceremony in Conference Room 2 at City Hall, presenting plaques to six citizens and organizations who have contributed to the promotion of disabled persons' human rights.
Since 2005, Seoul City has awarded the 'Seoul Welfare Award' in the disability human rights field to disabled persons who have demonstrated expertise through independence, as well as citizens and organizations who have helped disabled persons become self-reliant in the community.
Meanwhile, Seoul City has designated the period from the 19th to the 23rd, which includes Disabled Persons Day, as the 'Disabled Persons Day Commemoration Week' and has prepared various events.
