[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Hong Kong is imposing a two-week entry ban on travelers from the Philippines, India, and Pakistan.
On the 19th, the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, "The government made this decision after confirming the spread of the second variant virus infection within the region."
Passengers and aircraft arriving from the Philippines, India, and Pakistan will be banned from entry for two weeks starting from the 20th. People who have stayed in these countries for more than two hours are also subject to the entry ban.
Quarantine measures for existing entrants will also be strengthened. Travelers from the three countries must undergo an additional COVID-19 test on the 26th day after entry.
SCMP explained, "This means the infection risk from the three countries is very high," adding, "It is similar to the restrictions applied to the UK last Christmas."
