[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Mec ICES announced on the 19th that it has completed the supply of 400 ventilators to India in SKD form through Allied, delivering 200 units each on the 9th and 16th.
A Mec ICES official stated, "Due to customs and tax issues in India, we are supplying major components in SKD form instead of fully assembled ventilators. We have urgently completed the supply of 400 units of the portable ventilator MTV1000, and we are currently negotiating to supply the MV2000, an intensive care ventilator, also in SKD form along with the MTV1000."
He added, "Amid global concerns over the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 'mobile variant virus' originating from India, with more than 200,000 confirmed cases daily in India, Allied in India has requested additional supplies. We are currently ensuring thorough production through additional parts orders."
When Mec ICES supplies ventilators in SKD form, Allied assembles them and supplies the final products to hospitals across India.
