[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] France is expected to allow entry to overseas tourists who have completed vaccination starting this summer.
President Emmanuel Macron stated in an interview with US CBS News on the 18th (local time), "From May, we will gradually ease lockdown restrictions and plan to allow overseas tourists to enter in the summer."
France is considering issuing special passes to vaccinated entrants.
President Macron said, "We are currently finalizing specific measures with each ministry," adding, "If overseas entrants from European Union (EU) member countries, the United States, and others submit proof of completed vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test, we plan to issue certificates."
However, France will apply strict standards to Argentina, Chile, South Africa, and Brazil to prevent the influx of variant viruses.
President Macron said, "We will control the virus while gradually easing lockdown measures," and "We will also maximize vaccination."
