Gwangju Buk-gu Signs Agreement on Job Creation Project with Social Enterprises

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 19th that it has signed job creation project agreements with 13 (preliminary) social enterprises and will begin full-scale project implementation starting this month.

This project was prepared to secure the self-sustainability of social enterprises and provide stable jobs for vulnerable groups.

Buk-gu plans to support a total of about 550 million KRW, including labor costs and social insurance premiums, until March next year for the 13 companies selected in Gwangju City's '(Preliminary) Social Enterprise Job Creation Project' contest.

The participating companies are required to fulfill obligations such as mandatory employment of at least 50% vulnerable groups, achieving target sales, signing standard labor contracts, and managing the attendance of participating workers, while also participating in realizing social value.

Buk-gu will provide administrative support to ensure that products and services produced by social enterprises are given priority in purchasing, and will offer opportunities for re-participation to companies that demonstrate excellent social value creation after the project ends.

District Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu said, "I hope this project will help alleviate the management difficulties of social enterprises struggling due to COVID-19, even if only a little," and added, "We will continue to actively support social enterprises, which are the foundation of the people's economy, so that they can grow sustainably."
