[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Home furnishing retail company IKEA Korea will hold various discount events for IKEA Family members both online and offline from Earth Day on the 22nd of this month until May 19.


From April 22 to May 5, a 15% discount will be offered on living room products, and from May 6 to May 19, the discount will apply to bedroom products. In celebration of Family Month in May, an event for children customers will also be held. From April 22 to May 19, IKEA Family members who purchase children's IKEA products worth more than 150,000 KRW will receive an IKEA restaurant coupon worth 15,000 KRW. Detailed information will be available on IKEA Korea’s official online mall starting April 22.


A donation event will also be held to encourage more people to participate in climate action through sustainable daily living. In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, on April 21 and 22, customers who purchase IKEA’s sustainable products such as Veggie Balls with reduced carbon footprint and LED bulbs that consume up to 85% less energy compared to incandescent bulbs will have 1,000 KRW donated per product purchased. The donations will be contributed to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).


Key living room products included in this discount event are ▲the Stockholm 3-seater sofa with soft cushions and luxurious velvet material ▲the Tofte­rud coffee table with excellent storage capacity ▲the Holmo floor stand that creates a cozy atmosphere. Bedroom products include ▲the Askvoll 2-drawer chest with a drawer stop function ▲the Mosshult foam mattress with a washable cover and comfortable elastic foam.


Nicholas Jonsson, Commercial Manager of IKEA Korea, said, "The event for sustainable homes and the planet was prepared so that more people can easily and conveniently create sustainable lifestyles and build happier homes and a healthier planet together with IKEA," adding, "Sustainable living is no longer a choice but a necessity."


Meanwhile, since March 31, IKEA has been running a delivery fee discount event at all IKEA Korea stores and the official online mall to allow more people to experience IKEA’s home furnishing solutions. Until May 31, all customers will be charged a furniture delivery fee of 39,000 KRW regardless of purchase amount, and the existing local delivery service will continue to be offered at 29,000 KRW.
