Seoul City Provides 10 Billion KRW Support to 5,000 Tourism Small Businesses Affected by COVID-19


[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 19th, Seoul City, which has been supporting the tourism and MICE industries in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis since the early spread of the pandemic last year, announced that it will provide the ‘Seoul Tourism Recovery Leap Fund.’


Through this fifth project, the ‘Seoul Tourism Recovery Leap Fund’ will support 5,000 small business owners in the tourism and MICE sectors located in Seoul, providing 2 million KRW per business, totaling 10 billion KRW.


Applications for the fund will be accepted online from April 26 to May 14 via a dedicated webpage on the Seoul Tourism Foundation website, and the funds will be disbursed sequentially from May 10 after verifying eligibility.


Joo Yong-tae, Director of the Seoul Tourism and Sports Bureau, stated, "As COVID-19 vaccinations are being administered worldwide, discussions on vaccine passports and travel bubbles are taking place, raising hopeful expectations for the resumption of tourism," adding, "We hope this support will help alleviate the difficulties faced by small business owners in the tourism and MICE sectors, even if only slightly."
