On the 20th, an Ontact Event to Commemorate 'Disability Day' Held... "Improving Disability Awareness for a Happy and Inclusive 'Pumgyeok Gangnam' for All Members"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) will hold an ontact commemorative ceremony titled "Together and Connected" on the 20th in celebration of Disabled Persons Day, broadcasting it live in real-time via the video conferencing platform "Zoom" and the district office's YouTube channel.
The ceremony will be conducted both online and offline. The district plans to live-stream the awards ceremony held at the auditorium on the 6th floor of the Mimiwi Gangnam Seum Center. The awardees include 39 individuals and organizations such as disabled persons, disability groups, and related facilities who have contributed to the promotion of welfare for the disabled.
The district delivered awards in advance to 78 meritorious persons on the 8th.
The ensemble performance by the Bridgeon Ensemble, an arts group of persons with severe developmental disabilities, will be a highlight. To comply with social distancing and quarantine guidelines, the number of attendees on site is limited to 50, so a pre-recorded congratulatory performance will be streamed live.
An event to raise awareness about disabilities will also be held. Until the 22nd, works and products created by disabled artists will be exhibited in the lobby on the first floor of the district office main building to promote awareness among residents. Campaign videos correcting misconceptions about disabilities will also be available for viewing.
Jang Jeong-eun, head of the Social Welfare Division, said, "We will continuously develop customized welfare policies that enhance awareness and understanding of disabled persons among residents," adding, "We will create a happy city for both disabled and non-disabled members of 'Dignified Gangnam,' who live together with consideration and respect."
