Jeon Wooje, a researcher at Hanwha Investment & Securities, said, "Since the fourth quarter of last year, all business sectors have been performing well," adding, "This year as well, the annual record performance will be renewed."
He continued, "The price of chlorine in March was $218/t, a 120% increase compared to the previous year," and added, "Chlorine is one of the raw materials for PVC."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "With increased infrastructure investment and construction starts, PVC demand is rising," and "Due to the cold wave in the United States, 7-9% of global production has been halted for two consecutive months."
He added, "It is judged that PVC companies in China and Korea are operating at 100% capacity," and analyzed, "Since recent inventories seem to have been depleted, it is estimated that the single product margin rate has risen to an all-time high."
Researcher Jeon explained, "Due to increased demand for furniture and remodeling, the market for wood-based panels (MDF) has been improving since the end of last year," and "The demand for potassium hydroxide is also steadily increasing."
