Gwangju Election Commission Holds 'Voting Management Demonstration and Discussion' in Preparation for Next Year's Election

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Election Commission (Chairman Ko Young-gu) announced on the 18th that it held a joint "Election Day Voting Management Demonstration and Discussion" with five district election commissions on the 16th in preparation for next year's two major elections.

This demonstration was conducted to assess the capabilities of staff and seek optimal voting management methods ahead of the 20th Presidential Election and the 8th Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections, which will officially begin in the second half of this year.

The demonstration involved staff directly carrying out the entire voting management process at polling stations on election day, predicting potential problems and unexpected situations, and reviewing appropriate response manuals accordingly, focusing on practical on-site exercises and discussions.

The number of planned polling stations to be set up in Gwangju on election day is 369, and the number of voting officials managing these stations is expected to reach approximately 4,000.

Jung Chang-hyun, Election Manager of the Buk-gu Election Commission, said, "Due to the nature of voting management occurring simultaneously on the same day, management capabilities for diverse and urgent on-site situations are required above all," adding, "I believe this demonstration provided an opportunity for staff to gain on-site experience and enhance their expertise."

He continued, "We will continue to do our best to provide voter-centered election administrative services along with ongoing education."

Meanwhile, following the demonstration, the Gwangju City Election Commission plans to sequentially conduct demonstrations on vote counting management and early voting management to strengthen staff procedural expertise.
