Mutual Cooperation with Farms and Small Businesses in Jeju-do Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Aekyung Industrial announced on the 18th that it will introduce ingredients extracted from Jeju-grown lemon peels into Trio, Korea's first kitchen detergent brand, and Sunsaem, a premium kitchen detergent brand.
Aekyung Industrial has adopted upcycled ingredients made from lemon peels produced in Jeju Island to realize the value of regional coexistence. Lemons produced in Jeju are supplied in the form of distribution and juice processing, and most of the lemon peels left after juicing are spread on local farms. Aekyung Industrial collaborated with local small and medium-sized enterprises to use purely domestic lemon extract ingredients made from these lemon peels.
Aekyung Industrial will first introduce Jeju lemon extract into a total of 32 kitchen detergent products, including its own brands Trio and Sunsaem. In addition, the company is considering launching additional products such as hand wash and sanitizers containing Jeju lemon extract and plans to increase the use of these ingredients.
In particular, Aekyung Industrial will continue efforts to increase the use of upcycled ingredients from Jeju lemon peels and enhance the economic value of discarded lemon peels, fostering win-win cooperation with local farms and small and medium-sized enterprises in Jeju.
An Aekyung Industrial official said, “Previously, Aekyung Industrial launched the ‘Dameun’ brand containing local specialty ingredients such as Sangju apples and Hadong kiwis in collaboration with Nonghyup, making efforts for regional coexistence,” adding, “Aekyung Industrial will further strengthen meaningful activities that coexist with the local economy through various brands, including Trio and Sunsaem.”
