[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A bizarre incident occurred in Poland where residents were terrified because of a croissant.
On the 16th local time, BBC News reported that the Krakow Animal Welfare Association in Poland received a report about a suspicious object presumed to be an animal or reptile.
According to the association, nearby residents expressed anxiety as the suspicious object found on a lilac tree did not move for two days. Complaints followed that they could not open their windows for two days fearing the suspicious object might enter their homes.
The reporter initially mentioned that the object looked like a reptile. Investigators, aware that reptiles are unlikely to survive in the cool weather of southern Poland, visited the scene keeping in mind that it might be a pet abandoned by its owner.
However, the Krakow Animal Welfare Association official who visited the scene surprisingly discovered that the object was not a monster but a croissant. The official said they were at a loss on how to inform citizens that the source of their fear was actually bread.
The exact circumstances under which the croissant ended up on the tree remain unknown. The association speculated that the incident was a mishap where someone threw a croissant to feed birds, and it landed on the tree. They also reiterated the importance of reporting if there are any concerns about animal welfare.
