[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide stated that the summit meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden was a good opportunity to build personal trust.
On the 16th (local time in the U.S. Eastern Time), Prime Minister Suga tweeted, "Through today's summit, it was very meaningful that President Biden and I were able to deepen our personal trust and agree that Japan and the U.S. will lead the realization of a 'free and open Indo-Pacific.'
He added, "I want to further strengthen the Japan-U.S. alliance together with President (Biden) going forward."
Prime Minister Suga also said, "A stable relationship with China is important not only for Japan and China but also for peace and prosperity in the region and the international community," and "During the meeting with President Biden, we agreed that, since there are various issues with China, more frank dialogue with China is necessary."
