Yoo Si-min: "Pro-Chinmoon Third Candidate Theory? Pure Speculation... Don't Treat Others' Lives Like 'Toy Horses'"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] Ahead of next year's presidential election, rumors of Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, returning to politics have been circulating, but Yoo has drawn a line by calling it a "baseless claim."

On the 16th, Yoo stated on the YouTube channel 'Alileo Books' regarding the recent rumors about his political comeback, "I still hold the same thoughts as when I declared my retirement from politics. I will continue to do so and will neither run for election again nor work in the government."

He reiterated that he declared his retirement from politics in 2013 and that upon assuming the chairmanship of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, he announced he would not run for any elected office. He criticized the rumors as "'brainficial' (baseless claims). They try to present various grounds on their own, but all are unfounded."

He added, "I hope people will respect others' lives. Treating someone’s life like a toy to move around is too much."

Regarding being classified by some as a 'Pro-Moon third candidate,' he called it an "insulting expression," saying, "It assumes that citizens who politically support and personally respect President Moon Jae-in will choose the next presidential candidate based on their personal relationship or connection with President Moon." The 'Pro-Moon third candidate theory' essentially argues that a new candidate with a 'Pro-Moon' inclination should emerge within the Democratic Party, given the overwhelming support for Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung.

About the recently published book titled 'Yoo Si-min Story,' he said he learned of its publication through media reports. Although the book is about him, he explained, "The author who wrote the book, the reasons or circumstances for writing it, and the book’s sales are all unrelated to me."
