[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] A man in his 30s who returned to the scene after a hit-and-run accident and dragged the victim on the car hood for over 1 km has been arrested by the police.
Jeonbuk Police Agency announced on the 16th that they have apprehended and are investigating Mr. A on charges of hit-and-run injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Mr. A is accused of hitting Mr. B, who was standing on a road in Hyoja-dong, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, at around 11:15 PM on the 15th, and fleeing the scene.
After the accident, Mr. A returned to the scene and drove the car directly toward Mr. B, who was blocking the vehicle. Startled, Mr. B jumped onto the car hood, but Mr. A did not stop driving and dragged Mr. B on the hood of the passenger car for 1.1 km.
Mr. B reportedly told the police that when he protested against the reckless driving, the driver hit him while he was standing on the road and fled.
The police, who responded to the report, arrested Mr. A with the help of nearby citizens.
It has been confirmed that Mr. A was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Mr. B is known to have sustained serious injuries to his head and legs due to the accident.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on statements from Mr. B and witnesses.
