[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center on the 16th.


This vaccination was administered under the guidelines of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, which prioritize vaccination for members of local disaster response headquarters handling infectious disease control. Kim received the vaccine in his capacity as the 'Head of the Gwangjin-gu Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.'


Mayor Kim Seon-gap stated, “Protecting the residents during an infectious disease crisis is the mission of the district office and healthcare workers,” and added, “By demonstrating our vaccination response capabilities, we aim to build trust among residents, encouraging their active participation to accelerate the vaccination process and hasten the return to normal daily life.”


After vaccination, Mayor Kim waited for about 30 minutes at the health center to monitor for any adverse reactions and returned to work as no issues were observed.


Meanwhile, on the 15th, Gwangjin-gu opened the Gwangjin-gu COVID-19 Vaccination Center at Jayang Gymnasium, administering the Pfizer vaccine to seniors aged 75 and older, as well as workers and residents of elderly care facilities.
