[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Humedix's stock price is on the rise. The news that Huons Global has joined the Sputnik V production consortium, formed in response to discussions about introducing Russia's COVID-19 vaccine 'Sputnik V' to South Korea, appears to have been a positive factor.
As of 10:08 AM on the 16th, Humedix's stock price recorded 34,250 KRW, up 24.55% compared to the previous day. The news that Huons Global, along with Humedix and Prestige Biopharma, formed a consortium to produce Sputnik V starting in August and is also discussing domestic distribution plans seems to have had a positive impact. In addition to Humedix, the stock prices of Huons Global and Prestige Biopharma are also on the rise. Huons Global already reached the daily price increase limit (29.82%) at 51,800 KRW the previous day. Prestige Biopharma also recorded 33,400 KRW, up 7.74% compared to the previous day at the same time.
Earlier, Huons Global announced that it had formed such a consortium and signed a technology transfer agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) for the production of the Sputnik V vaccine. The consortium plans to establish a production facility capable of manufacturing over 100 million doses per month to meet the quantities requested by RDIF.
Meanwhile, discussions about domestic introduction also seem to have acted as a positive factor. Yoon Sung-tae, Vice Chairman of Huons Global, recently stated in a media interview, "We are currently discussing plans to distribute the Russian vaccine production volume domestically."
The day before, Baek Young-ha, head of the government-wide vaccine introduction task force (TF) vaccine introduction team, said, "We are in the process of concluding specific contracts for domestic pharmaceutical companies to produce vaccines approved overseas," adding, "Production is scheduled to begin domestically from August."
