[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jeju Air announced on the 16th that it will operate temporary flights on the Philippine routes starting from the 23rd to facilitate the smooth movement of Korean residents staying in the Philippines.
The temporary flights will begin with Incheon~Cebu on the 23rd, followed by Incheon~Manila on the 24th, and Incheon~Clark on the 27th.
This temporary flight operation was organized to ensure smooth travel for local Korean residents and international students. Tickets can be booked on the Jeju Air website, mobile app, or web.
Passengers traveling to the Philippines must prepare in advance according to the "Entry Permission Guide" announced by the Philippine government, including a valid visa matching the purpose of departure, a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test certificate, and a quarantine agreement form. Detailed information can be found at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines.
Additionally, only passengers with a body temperature of 37.5°C or below during the fever screening conducted at Incheon Airport before departure are allowed to board the plane, and wearing a mask and face shield is mandatory on board flights to the Philippines.
Korean passengers entering Incheon International Airport from the Philippines must submit a negative PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours before entry. If there are no issues, they return home and undergo a 14-day self-quarantine period. If a negative PCR test certificate is not presented or is invalid upon entry, passengers will be quarantined for 14 days in a temporary living facility instead of self-quarantine, incurring personal expenses, so caution is advised. Foreign nationals will be denied entry if they do not present a negative test certificate.
Meanwhile, since July 2020, Jeju Air has operated a total of 31 temporary flights to Manila, Cebu, and Clark in the Philippines, transporting over 3,300 Korean residents and international students to assist those facing difficulties in local travel due to the COVID-19 situation.
A Jeju Air official stated, “As the COVID-19 situation prolongs, there is demand for returning to Korea or moving locally,” adding, “We plan to operate temporary flights in consultation with authorities to other locations where there is demand besides the Philippines.”
