[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Audi unveiled its first compact electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) model on the 16th. Audi announced that it revealed the 'Audi Q4 e-tron' and 'Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron' through a world premiere event on the same day.
The Q4 e-tron and Sportback e-tron come with two battery options?55 kWh and 82 kWh?and three drivetrain versions: entry-level, mid-range, and top-tier. The Q4 40 e-tron offers a maximum driving range of 520 km based on the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) on a single charge.
The top-tier model, Audi Q4 50 e-tron quattro, is equipped with two electric motors supporting electric all-wheel drive, delivering a maximum output of 220 kW. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h.
The batteries of the Q4 e-tron and Sportback e-tron support slow (AC) and fast (DC) charging at home, public, and Audi network charging stations. During fast charging, the 55 kWh battery can be charged at up to 100 kW output, while the 82 kWh battery supports up to 125 kW. The Q4 40 e-tron can travel approximately 130 km based on WLTP standards with just about 10 minutes of charging at a maximum output of 125 kW.
The Q4 e-tron and Sportback e-tron also realize the body lines of the concept car introduced in 2019 in their production models. The spacious and open interior benefits from a simplified powertrain structure that eliminates the center tunnel, providing ample legroom and storage space not only for the front seats but also for the rear seats. Additionally, a 10.25-inch display is standard, and a newly introduced steering wheel with a smooth touch surface allows digital instrument cluster control.
Safety and convenience features have also been enhanced. Notable features include Adaptive Cruise Assist, which guides the driver laterally and longitudinally at all driving speeds; a surround view camera that allows monitoring of the surroundings during driving or parking; and an augmented reality head-up display. Furthermore, the vehicles are equipped with an intelligent e-tron route planner that generates optimal routes including charging infrastructure, and the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus.
