Installation of Three AI Resource Recovery Robots in Mok 3-dong Smart Urban Regeneration Area... Robots Capable of Separating Cans and PET Bottles, Points Earned Can Be Converted to Cash
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Sooyoung) will install three 'Artificial Intelligence Resource Recovery Robots' capable of separating cans and PET bottles in the Mok 3-dong smart urban regeneration project area.
This project is implemented to help establish a proper recycling culture by encouraging voluntary participation in recycling through rewards with designated points upon separate disposal, and to improve the residential environment and living conditions in the Mok 3-dong smart urban regeneration area.
The 'Artificial Intelligence Resource Recovery Robots' are installed with two units at the Mok 3-dong Community Service Center and one unit at the Kkaebi Market Customer Support Center. They operate by accumulating points when recyclable materials are inserted and the individual's mobile phone number is entered.
These devices only collect cans and PET bottles, distinguish trash using artificial intelligence, and eject any other types of waste back through the input slot.
Cans and PET bottles can be inserted up to 100 items per person per day, and 10 points are accumulated per item regardless of whether it is a can or PET bottle. When more than 2,000 points are accumulated, they can be converted to cash at a rate of 1 point per 1 won on the Superbin website.
Kim Sooyoung, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, "As we promote smart urban regeneration projects utilizing advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, we expect to contribute to the restoration of living conditions in the area by incorporating smart solutions that residents can directly experience."
