[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The opening ceremony of the 'Jungnang-gu Public Meal Service Center,' expanded and relocated as the largest in Seoul's autonomous districts, was held on the 15th at the Sinnae-dong Knowledge Industry Center.
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) expanded and relocated the Public Meal Service Center from the Gangseo-gu Eco-friendly Distribution Center to the Sinnae-dong Knowledge Industry Center, doubling the space from the previous 236㎡ office and logistics warehouse to 435㎡. This efficient use of space and shortened delivery distances now allow fresher ingredients to be delivered more quickly.
Additionally, the center was transformed from a simple space for food ingredient delivery into a multipurpose facility equipped with a cold storage warehouse, processed goods warehouse, office, promotional hall, and a dedicated education center for children's dietary habit education.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “The Public Meal Service Center achieves two goals through a rural-urban win-win structure: securing the safety of ingredients and reducing distribution costs via direct transactions, enabling the use of high-quality ingredients. Since nutrition is crucial during early childhood, we will do our utmost to provide safe and healthy food through the Public Meal Service Center.”
Since April 2019, as part of the rural-urban win-win public meal service project, Jungnang-gu Public Meal Service Center signed an MOU with Yeonggwang-gun, supplying the county’s healthy ingredients to 109 local daycare centers and community child centers, striving to provide healthy and safe food.
