[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, started Pfizer vaccine inoculations on the 15th at the COVID-19 vaccination center installed in the indoor gymnasium, targeting residents of elderly facilities and seniors aged 75 and older. To encourage this, County Governor Gu In-mo visited the site.
This vaccination is being administered to 1,170 people, including residents and workers of elderly facilities selected as priority vaccination targets and seniors aged 75 and older, and will continue sequentially as vaccines are supplied.
To create a safe vaccination environment, the county allows only pre-registered individuals in time slots of about 50 people every 30 minutes during a 6-hour day. Hand sanitizers are installed in all areas of the vaccination center, and social distancing is strictly observed.
Governor Gu said, “We are thoroughly preparing so that the elderly can receive vaccinations comfortably and safely,” and emphasized the importance of safety while urging, “We ask the targets to actively cooperate with vaccination to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and secure herd immunity.”
To operate the vaccination center, the county has deployed about 70 dedicated personnel, including doctors, nurses, administrative staff, and firefighting personnel, at the Geochang-gun Sports Park indoor gymnasium. The vaccination hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
