Goheung-gun Opens COVID-19 Vaccination Center... Pfizer Vaccine Inoculation Begins in Full Swing

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 15th that it has completed preparations for the opening of the COVID-19 vaccination center and started Pfizer vaccine vaccinations at the vaccination center (Palyoung Gymnasium) targeting 12,000 elderly people aged 75 and over.

The county installed an ultra-low temperature freezer and vaccine refrigerator at Palyoung Gymnasium and deployed about 40 dedicated personnel including doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to vaccinate up to 600 people per day.

In particular, on the 26th of last month, a joint pre-inspection of related facilities such as the ultra-low temperature freezer was conducted with Jeollanam-do, and on the 8th, a practical simulation drill was carried out assuming an actual situation.

During the simulation drill, each step including vaccine receipt and thawing, vaccine dilution and distribution, registration, preliminary examination, vaccination, electronic registration, observation of adverse reactions, and emergency treatment was inspected, and deficiencies were supplemented to prepare for the safe operation of the vaccination center.

The first person vaccinated today was an 82-year-old elderly resident named Shin ○○ from Goso Village, Goheung-eup. After vaccination, they said, “I was very worried before getting the shot, but I feel good and refreshed after getting it,” and added, “I hope others also get vaccinated for the health of their families.” After monitoring for adverse symptoms, they returned home without any particular symptoms.

Song Gwi-geun, Governor of Goheung-gun, who visited the vaccination center, instructed officials to carefully ensure that the elderly can receive vaccinations safely and said, “I ask for the active participation and cooperation of all residents for herd immunity.”

Meanwhile, vaccinations are scheduled to operate from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.), and vaccination reservations and schedules can be confirmed at the town and township offices where the vaccination was applied for.
