Acting Chief Jo Nam-gwan Orders Abolition of Rank System in Prosecutor General's Office Cafeteria and Elevators

[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] On the 14th, Cho Nam-gwan, Acting Prosecutor General and Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, instructed that all employees, regardless of rank, be allowed to use the cafeteria and elevators within the Supreme Prosecutors' Office building.

The Welfare Department of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office posted a message titled "Acting Prosecutor General's Instructions" on the internal prosecution communication network on the same day to convey this directive. According to the message, Deputy Prosecutor Cho allowed all employees to dine at the cafeteria "Daulchae," previously reserved exclusively for the Prosecutor General, and "Areumchae," typically used by senior officials such as research prosecutors and above.

The VIP elevator, previously used only by senior officials of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, will also no longer restrict users. It is known that Deputy Prosecutor Cho took similar measures when he was the head of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office.

A prosecution official stated, "While price differences can be maintained in the cafeteria, dividing access based on rank is inappropriate, and the elevator should be used by those who need it urgently, which is the Acting Prosecutor General's view."
