Mayor Lee Yong-seop: Actively Supporting the Creation of a 'Smart Buk-gu' Full of Green Energy

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, held the third district relay on-site dialogue on the 14th at the Buk-gu Cultural Neighborhood Park Senior Welfare Center.

The district relay on-site dialogue was organized to strengthen cooperation between Gwangju City and the autonomous districts, to directly communicate with citizens, to monitor public livelihood, and to solve local issues together.

On this day, after touring Buk-gu Cultural Neighborhood Park, Volunteer Center, and Senior Welfare Center, the dialogue was held at the Senior Welfare Center with about 30 residents attending under the theme of “New Deal Blossoming in Living Spaces.”

At this meeting, residents proposed ▲ improvement of Cultural Neighborhood Park facilities and creation of a pleasant green park ▲ support for remodeling project expenses of Buk-gu Senior Welfare Center ▲ support for leakage repair and remodeling project expenses of Buk-gu Volunteer Center ▲ maintenance of hiking trails and installation of self-generating exercise equipment in the Energy Transition Village area ▲ maintenance of the Advanced Industrial Complex facilities (sidewalk paving, rainwater drainage maintenance) and establishment of an integrated control center-linked monitoring system ▲ reinforcement of facilities at Gwangju Jeongtong Craft and Literary Arts School.

Mayor Lee said, “Buk-gu was the first autonomous district in Gwangju to enter the era of a 10 trillion won budget and enhanced the vitality of the livelihood economy through rapid execution,” adding, “Going forward, we will actively support the creation of ‘Smart Buk-gu’ through policy projects that combine green energy based on artificial intelligence, such as the maintenance of Cultural Neighborhood Park and the Energy Transition Village.”

Gwangju City plans to prioritize the improvement of facilities and the creation of a green park at Cultural Neighborhood Park.

Buk-gu Volunteer Center will receive support from city financial adjustment grants to reinforce facilities and conduct eco-friendly remodeling, ensuring volunteers can work in a pleasant environment.

The Advanced Industrial Complex will have its facilities maintained by 2023, and an integrated control center-linked monitoring system will be established for environmental pollution, safety management, parking management, and disaster prevention using advanced technology.

In the case of Gwangju Jeongtong Craft and Literary Arts School, financial adjustment grants will be provided to reinforce the building structure.

Additionally, the maintenance of hiking trails and installation of self-generating exercise equipment in the Ilgok-dong Energy Transition Village area will be considered for inclusion in next year’s budget, as forest trail maintenance projects are already underway.

Mayor Lee is scheduled to hold an on-site dialogue with residents of Nam-gu at the Nam-gu Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency on the 15th.
