Reopening of Gangdong Veterans Hall after Remodeling

Establishment of Veterans' Dining Halls and Rest Areas to Provide Warm Lunches and Comfortable Shelters

Reopening of Gangdong Veterans Hall after Remodeling

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has completed the remodeling of the Gangdong Veterans Hall, which was promoted to improve the welfare of veterans' families in Gangdong, and held an opening ceremony on the 13th.

The Veterans Hall, which was completed 22 years ago (basement 1 floor · 3 floors above ground), was newly renovated with a budget of 340 million won, including repairs of aging facilities and space improvements reflecting the opinions of veterans' organizations.

In particular, on the first floor, which was previously a private restaurant, a veterans' restaurant and veterans' resting area were newly created for the convenience of national veterans, expanding the hall's usage space. The basement first floor bathhouse also completed preparations to welcome veterans through exterior wall painting and faucet replacement work.

The veterans' restaurant, responsible for providing healthy meals for veterans, is directly operated by the district office, offering warm and nutritious lunches at affordable prices. Outside of meal times, it is used as a meeting and security education venue.

The veterans' resting area, with a cozy caf? atmosphere, is connected to the basement bathhouse frequently visited by elderly national merit recipients, and healing programs for physical and mental recovery are operated.

The bathhouse and restaurant will begin operation later according to the COVID-19 social distancing stages.

In addition to the facility construction, storyboards and galleries explaining the overall veterans' projects of Gangdong-gu were installed inside and outside the building to promote awareness among residents.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "The reason we have been able to live peacefully and prosperously as we do now throughout our long history is because of the noble sacrifices of national veterans," adding, "We will actively support national veterans and their families so that they can live honorable lives with respect and courtesy."
