Assemblyman Lee Hyung-seok Checks Progress on Gwangju Driver's License Test Center 추진 상황 점검

Lee Hyung-seok (Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangju Buk-gu Eul) announced on the 14th that he held a progress review meeting regarding the construction of the ‘Gwangju Driver’s License Test Center’ with officials from Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gwangju Buk-gu, and the Road Traffic Authority in attendance.

Rep. Lee received a report on the design service promotion plan from Noh Yoo-jin, Director of the License Management Department at the Road Traffic Authority. Following this, Park Nam-eon, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau of Gwangju City, and Lee Dal-ju, Deputy Mayor of Gwangju Buk-gu, reported on the progress of site selection for the driver’s license test center and plans for securing the necessary budget.

The meeting attendees agreed on the need to secure the optimal site by comprehensively considering accessibility and required budget.

They also decided to actively review plans to promote an advanced autonomous driving driver’s license test center, keeping in mind the future transportation infrastructure such as autonomous vehicles.

In particular, to ensure smooth coordination and efficient division of tasks among the agencies promoting the driver’s license test center construction project, a task force (T/F) will be formed.

Rep. Lee said, “Since the driver’s license test center is being built in Gwangju for the first time in 23 years, the expectations of Gwangju citizens are very high,” and urged, “Please proceed with the project swiftly and build advanced facilities considering future transportation infrastructure such as autonomous vehicles.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Lee made the establishment of the Gwangju driver’s license test center his ‘No. 1 pledge’ and worked to secure the budget, successfully obtaining 2 billion KRW in the 2021 budget for detailed design costs for the new Gwangju driver’s license test center.
