[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Former People Power Party Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok and former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon have been engaged in a daily debate over 'feminism.' Earlier, Lee evaluated the cause of the Democratic Party's defeat in the April 7 by-elections as "being all-in on the feminist movement," while Professor Jin criticized it as "low-quality populism."

The feminism dispute between former Supreme Council member Lee and Professor Jin began on the 9th. On that day, Lee claimed in a post on his Facebook, "(This election) resulted from the Democratic Party underestimating the vote consolidation power of men in their 20s and 30s and being all-in on the feminist movement."

He analyzed, "People like Yoo Si-min absurdly said that men are at a disadvantage compared to women because they watch soccer and play LoL instead of studying. In the face of Mayor Park Won-soon's sexual scandal, feminists made statements that were unsatisfactory, and when the victim's story was told, feminist votes fled, causing 15% of the 20s female vote to be taken by minor candidates."

He emphasized, "Unless the distorted gender division called gender equality is stopped, the Democratic Party will never gain votes from men in their 20s."

In response, Professor Jin pointed out in a comment on Lee's post that it was "very low-quality populism." Lee countered, "That is because the perception of gender equality differs between those over 50 and those in their 20s and 30s."

Their dispute continued on the 13th. On that day, Lee shared a column criticizing his 'anti-feminism' stance on Facebook, saying, "Now it's an enlightenment ideology, and there are even demands to just memorize feminism," and criticized, "Is feminism a Bible to you? Memorize it then."

The column was contributed by lyricist and 'JNH Music' CEO Lee Ju-yeop, who targeted Lee, stating, "Feminism is not an ideology you can selectively accept according to your understanding," and "It is the basic value of life in this era. Anti-feminism is merely a regressive attitude serving prejudice and discrimination."

Regarding this, Lee lamented, "Encountering such writing while talking with Professor Jin makes me miss him."

However, Professor Jin retorted, "If you don't understand, memorizing (feminism) is not bad," adding, "If you want to do politics."

Also, Professor Jin shared the column written by CEO Lee on his Facebook, pointing out, "There are some men who, like the goddess Athena suddenly born fully armed from her father's head, seem to think they were born fully formed from their father's male genital orifice."

He added, "There is an article in the Harvard Business Review that says, 'When the number of female members increases, the collective intelligence level of the entire organization rises,'" and "Macho societies have lower intelligence. This seems to be true from experience as well."
