"Are They Zoo Monkeys?" Controversy Over Transparent Windows in Pocheon Men's Restroom

[Asia Economy Reporter Jumi Lee] A men's public restroom at a tourist site in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, has sparked controversy after it was revealed that the interior is visible from the outside. The tourist site stated that they have taken measures to prevent users from being exposed by applying a coating to the restroom windows.

On the 10th, a post titled "Magic Mirror Restroom at Pocheon Tourist Site" was uploaded on the online community 'FM Korea.'

The author, Mr. A, shared photos along with a post saying, "The weather was nice, so I went on an outing to a representative tourist site in Pocheon."

Mr. A explained, "When I entered the men's restroom, I thought the window was a magic mirror (a mirror designed so that one side can see the other side, but the other side cannot see through) because the outside was clearly visible," adding, "But from the outside, it was not a magic mirror."

The released photos showed the interior of the men's restroom fully exposed to the outside through the window. The urinals were clearly visible, allowing a clear view of the users' backs.

Netizens expressed disbelief, saying, "It's not like the monkeys at the zoo," and "Can the inside of the restroom really be seen like that?"

In response to the controversy, the tourist site stated, "We have applied a coating to the windows to ensure that the interior is not visible from the outside at all."

Meanwhile, in February, there was also controversy when the interior of the women's sauna at the 5-star hotel Grand Josun Jeju in Jeju Island was exposed to the outside through glass windows. At that time, the hotel apologized, explaining that the blinds were not lowered due to an oversight.
