[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] BTS has entered the US Billboard 'Hot 100' chart with their new Japanese song 'Film out'.
According to the latest chart released by the US music media Billboard on the 13th (local time), 'Film out' ranked 81st on the main singles chart 'Hot 100'. With this, BTS set a remarkable record by consecutively charting songs in three different languages?English, Korean, and Japanese?on the 'Hot 100' with 'Dynamite', 'Life Goes On', and now 'Film out'.
BTS previously ranked 14th on the main album chart 'Billboard 200' (chart dated August 22, 2020) with their 4th Japanese studio album 'MAP OF THE SOUL : 7~THE JOURNEY~' released in July last year. This is their first time entering the 'Hot 100' chart with a Japanese song.
Released worldwide on the 2nd, 'Film out' is a ballad featuring poignant lyrics about a loved one. Member Jungkook participated in composing the song, collaborating with the Japanese rock band back number.
'Film out' also achieved good results on other Billboard charts upon entry. It ranked first on the 'Digital Song Sales' chart. On the 'Billboard Global (excluding US)', which ranks streaming and sales data from over 200 countries and regions worldwide, it placed 3rd, and on the 'Billboard Global 200' chart, it ranked 5th.
BTS is also enjoying high popularity on Billboard charts with their albums. Meanwhile, BTS will release the Japanese best album 'BTS, THE BEST', which includes 'Film out', on June 16. This album will contain singles and album tracks released in Japan over four years since 2017. It is expected to include a total of 23 songs, including 'Dynamite', which was the first Korean artist's song to be included on the US Billboard chart for two consecutive weeks and topped the 'Hot 100' three times in total.
