December Event in Seoul... Festival for Cooperatives Worldwide

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Council of Cooperatives held the 2nd Presidents' Meeting of 2021 on the 13th at the headquarters of the Korea Forest Cooperative Federation in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
Attendees included Lee Seonghee, President of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NongHyup); Choi Changho, President of the Korea Forest Cooperative Federation; Lim Juntak, President of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (Suhyup); Kim Yoonsik, President of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea; Park Chahoon, President of the National Credit Union Federation (Saemaeul Geumgo); and Kim Jeonghee, President of the iCOOP Cooperative Federation.
They discussed joint current issues for the development of cooperatives, including participation plans for the 33rd World Cooperative Congress scheduled to be held in Seoul from December 1 to 3.
The World Cooperative Congress is organized by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). It is an event held separately from the ICA General Assembly when there are special commemorations or important agendas. This year, it will be held in Seoul to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the ICA's founding and the 25th anniversary of the 'Declaration on the Cooperative Identity.'
The upcoming World Cooperative Congress is expected to be attended by 318 ICA member organizations from 112 countries. Under the theme "Deepening the Cooperative Identity," the program will include 4 plenary sessions, 20 concurrent sessions, and a Cooperative Innovation Expo.
Lee Seonghee, Chairman of the Korea Council of Cooperatives, said, "We are honored that the festival of cooperative members worldwide will be held in Seoul to mark the 125th anniversary of the ICA," adding, "Let us work together to widely promote the successful cases of the Korean cooperative movement to the world through this congress."
