Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon's Quarantine Measures Praised, Contrasting with Democratic Party's Position
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Shin Hyun-young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, positively evaluated Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon's 'Seoul-style Win-Win Quarantine' as being the same content as the 'Win-Win and Communication Quarantine' she has advocated.
Shin, a first-term lawmaker and former doctor, stated in a press release on the 13th, "Through various routes including the Seoul Mayor Park Young-sun camp, I have consistently said that win-win and communication quarantine guidelines should be created, but the policy that was not utilized within the Democratic Party was adopted by the People Power Party."
This stance contrasts with the Democratic Party's critical position that such measures could lead to a nationwide quarantine failure. On the 13th, Do Jong-hwan, the Democratic Party's emergency committee chairman, said at the National Assembly's 'COVID-19 Response Expert Meeting' regarding Mayor Oh's quarantine measures, "The discord between the quarantine authorities and local governments may cause public confusion and create gaps in the quarantine front."
Shin said, "I do not know whether it was because I was a first-term lawmaker with little influence or if there was a problem with the decision-making body within the Democratic Party," but added, "It is time to reflect on whether there were authoritarian elements in the Democratic Party's internal communication and policy decision-making processes, and where the disconnection is occurring."
Addressing Mayor Oh, who belongs to the People Power Party, she added, "Please carry out the win-win quarantine well for the citizens who are living through difficult days due to COVID-19!"
