Second Policy Field Dialogue Held... On the 14th in Buk-gu

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, held the second autonomous district relay on-site dialogue at the Gwangsan-gu Pyeongdong Business Center on the 13th.
The autonomous district relay on-site dialogue was organized to strengthen cooperation between Gwangju City and autonomous districts, to directly communicate with citizens, to monitor public livelihood, and to solve local issues together.
The mayor toured the Corporate Doctor Center inside the Business Center and held an on-site dialogue on support measures for companies and small business owners with about 30 attendees including small and medium-sized business owners and small merchants.
At the meeting, residents proposed ▲1% Hope Loan for small business owners linked with mutual financial institutions ▲Strengthening natural disaster response infrastructure in Pyeongdong Industrial Complex ▲Expansion of industries eligible for Gwangju job support projects (wage support) ▲Request for relocation of Kumho Tire Gwangju Plant ▲Construction of Hwangryonggang Interchange Bicycle Tourism Course ▲Sidewalk maintenance around Pyeongdong Industrial Complex Road ▲Sewer maintenance in frequently flooded areas of Hanam Industrial Complex.
The mayor said, “A significant portion of Gwangju’s core projects such as the Gwangju-type job project, the establishment of an artificial intelligence cluster, and the Gwangju Free Economic Zone are being realized in Gwangsan-gu,” adding, “We will actively support Gwangsan-gu to grow as the economic center of Gwangju and further lead to job creation, income increase, and revitalization of the local economy through measures to support companies and small business owners.”
Regarding the relocation of Kumho Tire, he stated, “The area around Gwangju Songjeong Station is the gateway to Gwangju and designated as a KTX investment leading district, but development fitting Gwangju has faced many restrictions due to the Kumho Tire factory,” and added, “For Kumho Tire to relocate, not only cost issues but also the need for land must be addressed, and we will review to ensure concrete discussions take place with the consensus of the local community.”
Regarding the proposal to build a bicycle tourism course along Hwangryonggang River, Gwangju City plans to support by prioritizing and gradually maintaining roads considering the urgency of each route.
Also, the comprehensive plan for the ‘Natural Disaster Reduction Comprehensive Plan Establishment Service,’ scheduled to be completed by 2023, will include the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex to prevent damage caused by drainage backflow during heavy rains.
In addition, when support projects such as the 3-No Special Guarantee Project (interest and guarantee fee support for one year) and Alley Market Special Guarantee Project, which have been implemented since last year to alleviate the management burden of small merchants, as well as the Bitgoeul Loan for livelihood stabilization funds and high-interest refinancing funds for small self-employed business owners, come to an end, additional projects such as the 1% Hope Loan for small business owners linked with mutual financial institutions will be considered.
The mayor is scheduled to hold an on-site dialogue with residents of Buk-gu at the Buk-gu Cultural Neighborhood Park on the 14th.
