[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] On the 13th, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction (Chairman Kim Yongbin), a subsidiary of Korea Technology (CEO Shin Yonggu), a KOSDAQ-listed company, and Chosun Broadcasting (CEO Kim Minbae, hereinafter TV Chosun) held a signing ceremony at the Chosun Ilbo building in Jung-gu, Seoul to establish the ‘ELCRU-TV Chosun Pro Celebrity 2021’ together with the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Tour (CEO Kang Choonja, hereinafter KLPGT).
‘ELCRU-TV Chosun Pro Celebrity 2021,’ co-hosted by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction’s premium residential brand ELCRU and TV Chosun, and organized by KLPGT, will be the first tournament in KLPGA Tour history where professionals and amateurs compete together. This highly anticipated event, featuring the world’s top domestic female professional players and famous domestic and international celebrities, is scheduled to visit golf fans during the Chuseok week in September.
Held over three days from September 24, the tournament will be a 54-hole stroke play event with a total prize money of 600 million KRW (winning prize of 120 million KRW). The first and second rounds will be played only by the participating players as in existing tournaments, and after the second round, 60 players advancing to the finals will play together with 30 amateurs.

Attending the signing ceremony, Kim Yongbin, Chairman of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction, said, “This tournament will be rich in spectacle with the participation of not only professional players but also many popular celebrities and stars. We expect it to be a great Chuseok gift for the people who have had a difficult year due to COVID-19.” He added, “We also plan to hold a charity event during the tournament to help those in need and contribute to spreading a culture of sharing.”
Additionally, Kim Minbae, CEO of TV Chosun, stated, “TV Chosun is honored to host the first tournament in KLPGA Tour history where professionals and celebrities compete together. This format is already active in golf-advanced countries such as the United States and Europe, where top-level players, famous entertainers, and sports stars participate, providing fans with unique excitement and enjoyment.” He continued, “Through this tournament, we also aim to contribute to revitalizing the golf industry, nurturing golf talents, and establishing a culture of donation. We will spare no effort and support to make this the best tournament on the tour in name and reality.”

Meanwhile, with the confirmation of the ‘ELCRU-TV Chosun Pro Celebrity 2021,’ which will offer fresh spectacles to the KLPGA Tour and golf fans, the total prize money for the 2021 KLPGA regular tour has been raised to 29.3 billion KRW across 32 tournaments, breaking the record for the highest prize money once again.
