BASF Participates in 'ChinaPlas 2021'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Global chemical company BASF will participate in CHINAPLAS 2021, Asia's largest plastics and rubber trade fair, held in Shenzhen, China from the 13th to the 16th, showcasing BASF's innovative businesses actively advancing toward a sustainable future.

Based on remarkable business growth and operational achievements last year, BASF is providing various innovative solutions. BASF expanded its product portfolio through the acquisition of the polyamide business from Belgian chemical company Solvay and is making progress in the investment project for the first production plant of BASF Zhanjiang Verbund, based on new renewable energy market policies. The first production plant of BASF Zhanjiang Verbund is being prepared to start operations in 2022.

Additionally, BASF is researching future possibilities to make a positive impact by reducing, reusing, and recycling plastics. At CHINAPLAS 2021, BASF will present co-developed products that demonstrate this commitment. An automotive trunk floor made by recycling BASF’s polyurethane (PU) binder Elastan CC 6521 is a representative example of effective plastic recycling solutions. Other co-developed products through collaborations, such as refrigerators, backpacks for laptops, and autonomous wireless chargers, are expected to showcase improvements in material and energy efficiency.

Furthermore, BASF is pioneering new markets by investing in digital solutions. BASF collaborates with Alibaba to develop a C2M model for the chemical industry and has launched a variety of product portfolios on Alibaba’s B2B e-commerce platform, 1688.com.

At CHINAPLAS 2021, BASF will additionally unveil the antioxidant plastic additive IgasTab IS 6300 L, which offers improved processing, excellent physical properties, and color stability, available at the 1688.com flagship store. Drawing on its long history and expertise in stable plastic additive supply, BASF has emphasized the role of plastic additives in the circular economy. Plastic additives are key tools for enhancing plastic circularity and preventing the downgrading of recycled plastic materials.
