[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 13th that it will provide vouchers worth 1 million KRW per farm to support the stable management of farms facing difficulties in agricultural management due to limited sales channels and decreased sales.
The support targets 383 farms in five sectors: flower farms, winter watermelon farms, farms supplying eco-friendly agricultural products to school meals, horse breeding farms, and rural experience and recreation villages, all registered as agricultural management entities.
If a decrease in sales in 2020 compared to 2019 is proven through cultivation/shipment status or supply contract conclusion for the relevant items, the farm will be confirmed as a voucher recipient.
For those who started cultivation in 2020 or were designated as rural experience and recreation villages, support can be received if sales decrease is recognized according to sector-specific requirements.
However, if the farm has received similar support such as the Farming Support Voucher, Emergency Employment Stability Subsidy, or Small Business Support Fund Plus, duplicate receipt is not allowed.
Farms can apply by accessing the Farm Support Voucher website by the 30th of this month.
Farms wishing to apply in person can visit the town, township, or neighborhood office from the 14th with identification and supporting documents.
Once recipients are selected, the city will provide vouchers worth 1 million KRW as prepaid cards through agricultural cooperatives starting from the 14th of next month.
The vouchers can only be used until September 30, and any remaining balance after the usage period will expire. They can only be used in industries specified by guidelines such as medical institutions, agricultural tools, gas stations, and restaurants.
A city official said, “We hope this Farming Support Voucher project will provide some help to farms struggling due to COVID-19,” and added, “We plan to actively promote it through the website and SNS to ensure all eligible recipients receive the benefits.”
