Toyota Launches Korea's First Hybrid Minivan 'New Sienna'

2WD 64 Million KRW, AWD 62 Million KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Toyota Korea officially launched and began sales of the country's first hybrid minivan, the 'New Sienna Hybrid,' on the 13th.

The New Sienna Hybrid, introduced by Toyota, is a 4th generation full-change model characterized by the application of a low-center TNGA platform with the keywords "boldness and spaciousness," combining the advantages of both minivans and large sport utility vehicles (SUVs).

Available in two models, front-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), the New Sienna Hybrid is equipped with a hybrid system combining a 2.5ℓ gasoline engine and an electric motor, delivering a total output of 246 horsepower and excellent fuel efficiency of 13.7 km/ℓ (AWD) to 14.5 km/ℓ (2WD) based on combined mileage standards.

Various safety technologies and convenience features are also equipped. The preventive safety technology package, 'Toyota Safety Sense,' is standard on all models, enhancing driving convenience and safety. Additionally, a digital rearview mirror providing a wide rear view and a panoramic view monitor offering various camera views depending on the gear position are applied.

Furthermore, hands-free power sliding doors with kick sensors and power back doors are standard. The second-row captain seats feature super long slide rails, allowing the seats to move forward and backward within a range of 624 mm, providing ample legroom and ease of boarding and alighting.

Notably, the 2WD model includes a head-up display (HUD) function, and the second row is equipped with an 11.6-inch large rear seat entertainment system. The AWD model applies Toyota's hybrid all-wheel-drive E-Four system, which effectively distributes driving force between the front and rear wheels according to driving conditions, delivering excellent driving stability.

Takemura Nobuyuki, President of Toyota Korea, stated, "The New Sienna is an eco-friendly vehicle that can effectively reduce fuel consumption in urban driving with frequent stops and starts," adding, "It can satisfy various customer needs such as precious time with family or business opportunities."

Meanwhile, the recommended retail price of the New Sienna Hybrid, including value-added tax and based on a 3.5% individual consumption tax, is 62 million KRW for the AWD model and 64 million KRW for the 2WD model.
