[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 13th that its global clothing care campaign video, which considers the environment, has surpassed 100 million cumulative views on YouTube.
Since September last year, LG Electronics has been running a global campaign (#careforwhatyouwear) encouraging participation in environmental protection through proper clothing care habits. The online video introducing this campaign, "Care for What You Wear - Story of Our Clothes," was released on LG Electronics' official YouTube channels in 10 countries including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Poland, and Russia, recently surpassing 100 million cumulative views.
Through the video, LG Electronics emphasized that according to statistics from the European Environment Agency, 5.8 million tons of clothing are discarded annually in Europe. It highlighted that customers' small actions?such as properly caring for clothes to wear them longer, remodeling out-of-fashion clothes, and passing on clothes they no longer wear?can reduce environmental pollution and resource waste caused by discarded clothing and change the world.
This video recently won an award in the digital category at the 29th "Good Advertisement Selected by the People," hosted by the Korea Advertisers Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. As part of this campaign, LG Electronics also released 13 types of eco-friendly clothing in a limited edition last November in collaboration with the global premium fashion online mall Net-a-Porter.
