According to Article 32 of the Enforcement Decree of the Integrated Defense Act, an agreement was signed on the 12th at the Yongsan District Office between the Army 3537th Unit 3rd Battalion, Yongsan Police Station, and Yongsan Fire Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjang Hyun) signed a boundary agreement on the 12th with the 3rd Battalion of the Army Unit 3537, Yongsan Police Station, and Yongsan Fire Station for the COVID-19 vaccination center.
This is in accordance with Article 32 of the Enforcement Decree of the Integrated Defense Act (Security, Protection, and Defense of National Important Facilities).
The agreement ceremony held at the Yongsan District Office was attended by Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, Minho Ham, Commander of the 3rd Battalion of Army Unit 3537, Juhyun Park, Chief of Yongsan Police Station, and Soongsu Go, Chief of Yongsan Fire Station. The event proceeded for one hour with signing the agreement, photo sessions, and on-site inspection.
According to the agreement, the district’s vaccination center defense zones are divided into Zone 1 (Boundary Zone, outside the facility fence), Zone 2 (Main Defense Zone, around Yongsan District Office), and Zone 3 (Core Defense Zone, vaccine storage).
Defense responsibilities are shared by the district, military, police, and fire departments, with the district setting the overall policy. The military and police will conduct regular patrols of vulnerable areas such as the vaccine storage, while the fire department will focus on fire prevention at the vaccination center and protection of medical personnel.
A district official stated, “In case of an emergency, the district will utilize its own personnel to respond to the situation,” adding, “At the same time, major situations will be communicated to the military, police, and fire departments to actively respond.”
The district vaccination center is located in the planning exhibition hall of Yongsan Art Hall (150 Noksapyeong-daero). It is divided into areas for filling out and waiting with the pre-examination form, computer verification, pre-examination and vaccination, and monitoring for adverse reactions, covering a total area of 1,150 square meters.
The center operates on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Actual vaccination hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Vaccinations are not administered during lunch break (12 p.m. to 1 p.m.).
The operating staff consists of 42 people: 4 doctors, 8 nurses, and 30 administrative support personnel working in shifts.
The vaccination targets are consenting Yongsan-gu residents. Following government policy, residents aged 75 and older are prioritized for vaccination, with vaccinations for all residents aged 18 and older continuing from the second half of the year.
The daily vaccination capacity is 600 people.
Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Starting from the 15th, Pfizer vaccines will be administered to seniors aged 75 and older,” adding, “We will prepare for any emergencies together with the military, police, and fire departments.”
