Gwangju Office of Education and Chosun University Join Hands to Establish High School Credit System Foundation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 12th that, as part of establishing a high school credit system foundation, it has been operating four university-linked inter-school joint curriculum courses in cooperation with Chosun University since the 3rd.

The university-linked inter-school joint curriculum is a regular educational program in which subjects that are difficult to open due to a lack of teachers at individual schools or insufficient student enrollment are offered at a hub school and taught to students from multiple schools.

The courses offered are ▲Education ▲Psychology ▲French I ▲Life Science Experiment.

Professors from Chosun University participate as lead instructors, and teachers from Gwangju High School (Education, Psychology), Inseong High School (French I), and Donga Girls' High School (Life Science Experiment), which have opened the respective courses, serve as co-teaching instructors, jointly responsible for each subject's classes.

For this university-linked inter-school joint curriculum, the Metropolitan Office of Education supports personnel expenses and some operating costs, while Chosun University provides classroom space, personnel, and operating expenses as part of this year's High School Education Contribution University Support Project.

The Metropolitan Office of Education and Chosun University have signed a memorandum of understanding to continuously cooperate in establishing the foundation for the high school credit system and contributing to high school education.

An official from the Metropolitan Office of Education stated, “Although there is student demand, many schools find it difficult to open certain subjects due to teacher supply issues. By utilizing the specialized personnel and facility infrastructure of our local university, these subjects have been offered as inter-school joint curricula, expanding students' subject selection options.”
