20s Daughter Who Wielded a Weapon at Father Detained on "Flight Risk" Grounds

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A woman in her 20s who injured her father with a weapon has been detained.

The Seoul Northern District Court held a pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant review) on the 12th for Mr. A, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted parricide, and issued an arrest warrant. The court explained the reason for issuing the warrant as "there is a risk of flight."

Mr. A is accused of injuring his father with a weapon at an apartment in Nowon-gu, Seoul, at around 11:21 p.m. on the 9th.

Mr. A was arrested at the scene following a report from a family member who witnessed the incident. The father was transported to the hospital, underwent surgery, and is reported to be recovering.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances and motive of the crime with Mr. A.
