Samsung Electronics Also Attends
Discussion on Semiconductor Supply Shortage Measures
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The White House announced on the 11th that U.S. President Joe Biden will attend the 'CEO Summit' on the 12th (local time) to discuss the semiconductor supply shortage issue. Since Samsung Electronics will also participate in this meeting, it is expected to have a significant impact on the Korean semiconductor industry.
The White House disclosed Biden's schedule on the same day, revealing that he will attend the CEO Summit held the following afternoon. Although the White House announced the CEO Summit last week, President Biden's attendance was announced suddenly on this day. The meeting will be held virtually.
The White House stated that President Biden will attend briefly, but it is understood that the event is considered significant enough for the president to participate. Previously, President Biden emphasized the importance of semiconductor chips by holding them up while announcing supply chain improvement measures.
The White House said the meeting will discuss semiconductors and maintaining supply chain stability. In addition to President Biden, Jake Sullivan, National Security Council (NSC) Advisor; Brian Deese, National Economic Council (NEC) Director; and Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce, will attend. Industry representatives from companies such as Samsung Electronics, GM, Ford, and Intel will also participate.
