The special inspection will focus on 130 sites with habitual violations and repeated complaints.

To enhance the transparency and effectiveness of the inspection activities, the province plans to form and operate a special inspection team jointly with the provincial government, city and county governments, and private environmental organizations.

The main inspection items include ▲ installation of unauthorized or unreported facilities ▲ improper operation of pollutant emission facilities and prevention facilities ▲ air dilution of air pollutants ▲ unauthorized discharge of wastewater ▲ neglect of malfunctioning prevention facilities.

The inspection team will take strict measures according to relevant regulations against sites where serious violations or repeated and chronic violations are detected during the inspection process, and plans to disclose the details of the penalties imposed on each violating site.

Including these sites, the province plans to conduct guidance inspections targeting 2,501 environmental pollutant emission sites within the jurisdiction this year.

Lee Nam-jae, Director of the Climate and Environment Bureau of the province, said, "The right to a healthy life and a pleasant living environment for residents is an environmental right guaranteed by the Constitution," adding, "The province will conduct customized special inspections on habitual and chronic complaint sites to prevent illegal activities in advance and strive to establish an efficient environmental pollution monitoring system."
