Installation of Women’s Safety Bells in Gwangjin-gu Public Parking Lots

Installation of 'Women’s Safety Bells' in Public Parking Lots for Female Customer Safety... Expanded After Crime Prevention Effectiveness Since First Installation in 2018

Installation of Women’s Safety Bells in Gwangjin-gu Public Parking Lots

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has expanded the installation of women's safety bells in public multi-story parking lots in the area to ensure the safety of female customers using the facilities.

The district initially installed women's safety bells on the first floors of eight parking lots in November 2018 as a pilot project. Judging that it was effective in preventing crimes, the district decided to expand the installation to all floors of the multi-story public parking lots.

The women's safety bell functions by directly connecting to the Police Agency's 112 situation room when pressed in case of any crime-related incidents in the parking lot, enabling immediate reporting and urgent police dispatch.

Additionally, a red light on the strobe installed in the parking lot turns on, and an alarm sounds simultaneously to alert those nearby of the emergency situation.

The district installed the safety bells in a protruding illuminated sign form so that their location can be easily identified from anywhere in the parking lot during emergencies.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We installed women's safety bells to prevent various violent crimes targeting women and to provide psychological stability for women using parking facilities. We will continue to discover and promote various projects to improve the convenience and safety of parking lot use.”
